Abstract:-
The rural-urban migration has increased in recent decades with the deterioration of rural situation, the same is reflected with a reduction in the size of farm holdings, and many others. With the reduction in the size of holdings, an average land-holder’s livelihood depends on many farm and non-farm activities, and in the lack of enough employment opportunities in their vicinity, many of these land-holders are migrating for work. Some of such migration (for work) in the earlier years were happening in nearby places, but with the increased concentration of economic growth, the non-agriculture sector in many regions has not been able to provide opportunities to landholders. Such migration of landholders out of distress has several consequences. The present study discusses some of these issues with secondary data.
