Abstract:-

The talk will introduce essential elements of the theory of auctions. It will cover:-

(i) some fundamental models of auction theory; (ii) show how various models of auction and insights from theoretical results apply to the design of auctions for allocating scarce resources, like spectrum, coal mines etc.; and (iii) discuss the use of various models of auctions beyond allocation of scarce resources, mainly discussing Google’s sponsored search auction.
