Abstract:-
Open source software has become a common part of our lives. While it is often thought of as purely a result of a community of altruistic developers who give away their work for free, many large, profit-seeking companies (very often competitors) are involved in open source software development. The defining feature of open source software is the freedom to access and modify the source code. Users’ rights and restrictions depend on the licence under which the software is provided. To better understand the incentives behind open source strategies, we have developed a model to analyse the licensing choices of open source software creators.
