Abstract:-
Between 2004–05 and 2022–23, the decline in the Youth Workforce Participation Rate (WPR) was accompanied by substantial increases in the unemployment rate. During the same period, despite an increase in the proportion of young people engaged in regular salary/wage-earning activities, job quality deteriorated significantly since more workers found themselves doing non-decent work. The primary objective of this research is to examine the employment status of young individuals and the wage disparities that exist between decent and non-decent workers. Additionally, the study also analyses the negative effect of non-decent work on wages. The main finding of the study is that the wage penalty in non-decent work is higher for higher regular salary/wage earners as compared to lower regular salary/wage earners
